These are made of assets and situations pulled straight from the main game, so don’t expect to find anything new in this mode. With all-new features and gameplay controls for the PS Vita, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus allows you to revisit the legendary Sigma series in an exciting new way. In these you’ll take on waves of enemies, bosses, and shooting challenges in bite-sized packages perfect for portable gaming. The new Hero play style allows players new to the series to overcome the toughest of trials. It’s a stiff challenge, but once you’re confident in blocking and dodging, and can really embrace the game’s required speed, you really will feel like a ninja, and will understand why these games have such a dedicated following.įinally, a new Trials mode gives players ninja missions to work through. Different play styles for different players. I’d advise new players to play the game on Normal difficulty. To be fair, I’ve played this game a couple of times before, but blasting bosses to death in a minute or so with endless Ninpo isn’t even challenging. I played through a fair bit of the game in Hero mode to try it out and found myself laughing at how easy some of it was. I think Team Ninja’s intent was to push even new players to try to learn proper blocking and dodging, but Hero makes the game a bit too easy. That said, even with its lower resolution textures and lower polygon counts it manages to look respectable with its soft bloom and nice framerate, and the Vita’s gorgeous OLED screen does not hurt. The look is slightly dated now, especially when compared to the non-port Vita launch titles. Featuring the three rebooted entries - Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge- some fans aren't happy this trilogy collection uses the 'Sigma'. It’s run, slash, cover your ass through seemingly endless waves of fellow ninja until you meet some of the meanest level-end action game bosses ever - just like old times. It has been awhile, but it was mostly a pleasure to play this game again with its focus on quick action and proper blocking technique. Here’s the verdict on the core gameplay: it’s old but it still feels good. There’s no additional content, control tweaks, or visual adjustments to the core gameplay, which means that this classic remains untouched. ![]() It features the same control, same difficulty, same crap camera, and the same visuals. At its core, Vita re-release Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is the exact same game. Even though it has aged a few years it’s still one of the best action games I’ve ever played. Likewise the loading issues which cause Ninja Gaiden to hiccup when entering rooms is still present, and eight years later it's starting to get annoying.Despite its problems I loved Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Unfortunately, the "Plus" portion of Ninja Gaiden doesn't include things like fixing the game's notoriously subpar camera (which can't keep track of crazy ninjas on a killing spree). Ninpo is relegated to the rear touch panel, which will likely be hit or miss for gamers who are not used to having to reach behind their handheld just to shoot a fireball. For the Vita port, Tecmo Koei added some touchscreen controls for things like projectile attacks, which makes aiming and shooting significantly easier by allowing you to tap enemies and hurl shuriken or shoot arrows. Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus for the PS Vita may well be a first, however, as it isn't just a port but a port of a port. It was then released for the PS3 under the name Sigma, and the Vita version is known as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus. The cutscenes, however, still come off stellar, even if they're telling a confusing and mostly BS story. By Mike Rose PS Vita Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus We're used to seeing ports of old games when new video gaming systems are released - it wouldn't be a proper hardware launch without a smattering of port-driven cash-ins. N inja Gaiden 2 is a 2008 video game for Xbox 360 released by Tecmo Koei. Regrettably the dull and flat colors, thanks largely to the lackluster environments most of the game takes place in, are not pleasing on the eye. Granted it is essentially an HD port of an Xbox game, but the game runs smoothly and quickly. ![]() It's not for everyone, but if you're willing to learn how to master the art of ninjutsu you'll find a wickedly satisfying action game. Ninja Gaiden is known for being an intense, difficult action game that will test your skills and your patience. She serves as a fun, though less exciting, foil to Ryu. Since this is the Sigma version of Ninja Gaiden, the scantily clad Fiend-slayer Rachel is also playable for a few missions. Whether it's other ninjas, evil soldiers, or demonic Fiends, Ryu dispatches them with deadly combo attacks and lightning-fast swordplay. ![]() Ryu Hayabusa is a ninja, and as such he spends most of the game flipping out and killing everyone.
